Meet Kathryn Kahle
Kathryn “Kathy” Kahle is the founder and owner of her own law firm, Kathryn Kahle, PLLC. She is one of only a very small percentage of Texas lawyers to become “double board certified,” achieving Board Certification by the Board of Texas Legal Specialization in both Criminal Law and Juvenile Law.
She focuses her practice on defending juveniles and adults charged with misdemeanors and felonies in Harris County. Notable results have included earning felony dismissals for a variety of family assault cases, including for aggravated assaults of a family member, choking offenses, aggravated robberies, and injury to a child. Additionally, she was able to secure a reduction for a juvenile client from murder to manslaughter.
Kathy has worked in the legal industry since 2005, spending over 15 years of her legal career as a prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. At the DA’s office, she first chaired over 55 jury trials, including capital murder, murder, aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated robbery, and burglary of a habitation cases. She also rose in the ranks to achieve Chief positions in the 179th Criminal District Court and the 314th Juvenile District Court, as well as serving as Chief of the Child Exploitation Section. This means she served as the DA’s top lawyer handling cases in those courts and section. In addition, Kathy served as trial prosecutor in the child abuse division, the family criminal law division, the narcotics division, the misdemeanor division, and in various courts in the felony trial bureau.
Prior to opening her own firm and her work with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, she worked for a large and prestigious regional law firm, where she was an associate attorney in the litigation division. In addition, she served as a news anchor, reporter, and producer in Abilene and San Antonio, Texas, often covering government, crime, and feature stories.
Kathy graduated from Trinity University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Political Science in 2000, magna cum laude. She was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, co-host of "Trinity Today," and received the Outstanding Senior Award from the Department of Communication and the Trinity University Scholar Award. Subsequently, she earned her law degree from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2005. During law school, she served as Assistant Note and Comment Editor of the South Texas Law Review and achieved great success as part of the nationally known South Texas Mock Trial Team.
She is a member of the Houston Bar Association, Texas Bar College, Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and State Bar of Texas.
